An iconic venue synonymous with football, the Stade Vélodrome was built for the 1938 Football World Cup and has been renovated three times since. The stadium has a capacity of 67,000 and is located a walk of approximately one hour from the Old Port of Marseille and city centre or a 25 minute metro ride. The stadium has been renamed for the Rugby World Cup, Stade de Marseille.

Getting There by Public Transport 

Directions will be displayed on your hotel notice board and you are recommended to photograph our notices prior to leaving your hotel to keep on your phone for handy reference.  The following routes and transportation will take you to the stadium: 

One of the easiest ways to get to the stadium is to walk! It’s a straightforward 45-to-60-minute walk from the Vieux Port along Rue Paradis and cross into Avenue du Prado. 

If you prefer to take public transport and travelling from the Old Port take the Metro line 2 at Noailles Station and alight at Rond-Point du Prado or Sainte Marguerite Dromel stations or from the city, take bus B1 and alight at Michelet Huveaune. 

Walking 

Designated walking routes for fans will be set up and clearly sign-posted by the RWC23 organisers. 

From Saint-Charles station – approxiamtely 45 minutes to one hour  

From Vieux Port – approximately 45 minutes to one hour 

Metro 

From 05:00 hours to 00:30 or 01:30 hours on match days (matches at 21:00 hours) 

Line 2 (Red) – Stop: Rond-point du Prado (For Jean Bouin access and North Stand – Entry 1) 

Line 2 (Red) – Stop: Marguerite Dromel (For Ganay access and South Stand – Entry 2) 

Line 1 (Bue) - Stop: Castellane / walk to the Stadium (20') 

Buses 

From 05:00 hours to 21:00 hours 

Ligne 19 – To Stade de Marseille / Stop: Rond-point du Prado 

Service until 01:30 hours on match days (matches at 21:00 hours) 

Ligne 21 – To Stade de Marseille / Stop : Rond-point du Prado 

Ligne 83 – To Stade de Marseille / Stop : Rond-point du Prado 

Service until 01:30 hours on match days (matches at 21:00 hours)
