Sapporo

This will be a great start for England fans on their Rugby World Cup 2019 odyssey to Japan.

Sapporo is Japan’s fifth largest city and home to the Sapporo Brewery – which means England’s travelling fans will kick off their adventure in style with a cultural beer when the tournament starts.

England face Tonga in their opening match at the Sapporo Dome and will then experience everything that a wonderful Japanese city has to offer.

Sapporo is a remarkable place. Its population stood at just seven in 1857 but it’s now a thriving hub that comes to life around the summer festival season and then in the winter for the wonderful Snow Festival, when Sapporo’s population literally doubles in size.

With stylish cafes, a thriving food scene and neon-nightlife, the party will continue long after the final whistle for the Red Rose fans who make this fantastic city their first base of Rugby World Cup 2019.

There is so much to see and do that with access to the Hokkaido mountains and hot springs, the only real trouble England fans will have is fitting everything in – and of course, don’t forget to sample that famous beer!
