Mizubeso (Paddle boarding)

I can almost guarantee you wouldn’t have the opportunity to paddle board through a city in many other places in the world! The latest craze in Yokohama is venturing through the modern architecture and piers on the Ōoka River which flows through the city.
Never paddle boarded before? Not a problem. Classes for beginners and various tour options are offered for ¥4,000 from 9am. Make sure to book in advance though, because these adventures are in high demand!

Arima Onsen

On the other side of Kobe to Mount Rokko, you find the famous hot spring town called Arima Onsen. The town has been modernised but still has roots to its historic past with narrow lanes and wooden buildings and can be explored completely on foot. The town offers multiple types of hot springs to try with different benefits to each, including waters that are said to great for the skin and muscle pains.
What better way to finish off an exciting day exploring than to relax in the bubbling hot springs of Arima Onsen!

Jozankei is a legendary place for kappa, a mythological river creature. You can enjoy activities like canoeing and rafting as well as the beautiful autumn foliage, which means this is a great excursion opportunity.
There are also plenty of lodging facilities complete with hot spring baths that you can enjoy on a day-trip. It’s about an hour away from the centre of Sapporo, but you can go without a car, so why not check it out.

Mount Mitake

If you desire a break from the city streets, then why not take a short trip to the outskirts of Tokyo and hike up Mitakesan (Mount Mitake).
The main attraction is the gorgeous shrine with a variety of colours popping out from everywhere. However, the journey doesn’t have to stop there. With various hiking opportunities, you can get to see some of the most beautiful parts of Japan. A prime example would be the rock garden, a narrow and forested valley with a tranquil stream flowing through.
There is an opportunity to scale the mountain even further, where you will get some of the best views imaginable with picturesque landscapes visible from every angle.

Tea Ceremony

Why not end an exciting day of adventuring through Yokohama with a relaxing tea ceremony 256 metres above the ground on the 65th floor of the Royal Park Hotel. You can get this experience for just ¥1500, which is roughly equivalent to £10, so there is absolutely no reason not to go and give it a try.
